This is my sister Nina and her (now) fiancé Cody. Cody planned an awesome proposal for her under the Christmas lights at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, and he contacted me to schedule and engagement session for them for the next day. She had no idea and was so surprised!

We decided to head to Arrington Vineyards for their session and we had some great blue skies and clear winter weather. Nina and Cody, I miss you lots and can’t wait to see you and your little family soon!

This fall I had the pleasure of shooting some Berry College engagement photos for Jenna and Thomas. They are getting married this year in Georgia and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding! I miss these fantastic colors and this setting was just perfect for capturing that fall feeling.

These are a few of my favorites from their session. Jenna and Thomas, it was wonderful getting to know you and I had such a fun time with you guys! I will see you again in just a few short months!

I am so excited about all the wonderful couples I have gotten to photograph this year! Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Kayla and Shawn’s engagement session on and around the Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville.

Kayla and Shawn are such awesome people. I got to know them over coffee at their pre-wedding consultation and they were so nice and friendly. They are originally from Illinois; Shawn is a lawyer and Kayla is a special education teacher. They had their pick of where they could move for their careers and they chose Nashville.

Since Nashville is a city they love and a big part of their new life together, they wanted to have their engagement photos taken on the Pedestrian Bridge, with the Nashville skyline in the background. This is such a great location and we stopped at a few different spots in the area for photos.

Kayla and Shawn, thank you so much for letting me photograph this session for you guys and I cant wait to photograph your wedding at Traveller’s Rest Plantation next year!

Here are a few favorites from this engagement session. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Pick the Right Time of Day

The time of day your session is held is crucial to how your photos will turn out. The most flattering light is typically the hour or two before sunset and after sunrise. Seek open shade, especially if you have to have your session at a time when the sun is harsher. This bridal session was photographed in the summer, and it was quite warm even at sunset. A session at noon would definitely make for some sweaty photos!

Have a Plan if You Need to Change

Macy brought a sheet to change behind and later was able to use it to keep the hem of her wedding dress clean.  Macy brought a sheet to change behind and later was able to use it to keep the hem of her wedding dress clean.

The Park at Harlinsdale Farm has portable restrooms near the dog park, but that might make for an awkward changing situation. I have been told that they recently completed an indoor restroom, but I was not able to find it, so be prepared with whatever outfits you need and come dressed in your session attire if you can.

Find the Best Light

For Macy's bridal session we stayed in an area near some small buildings. The trees in that area provided great shade and beautiful filtered light for her session. There are some great structures at the park including the barn, fences, a long tree-lined road, and some beautiful flowers. Make sure the light is flattering at whichever areas you decide to take photos.

Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this site.
It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's
very hard to get that "perfect balance" between user
friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you've done a great job with this.
Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Chrome.

    Outstanding Blog!
