This fall I had the pleasure of meeting Jessica and Billy and photographing their unique, amazing Nashville brewery wedding at Tennessee Brew Works. Here are a few of my favorite images and some details about their day.    -Leanne

The Bride and Groom

Billy and Jessica are the most unique, awesome couple. Jessica is a NICU nurse, Billy is a musician, and they both give off such a cool, laid-back vibe. They were both really involved in planning their Nashville brewery wedding that was so perfect for them.

They wanted something unconventional and fun, they wanted to have a relaxed day, and most of all they wanted to enjoy themselves. So, they decided to get ready at their own house with their friends; the bridal party. Jessica made the skirt of her dress, which was SO fun and unique, and she looked amazing in it! Billy and his groomsmen opted for a dapper, retro vibe and it was all so infused with their personality.

The Wedding Day

Many of Billy and Jessica’s wedding details were unconventional in the best way possible – like Jessica’s blue-green ring, having donuts instead of cake (a choice I highly recommend!), and having the ceremony amongst the vats at their favorite local brewery – Tennessee Brew Works.

Billy and Jessica chose to have a first look, which is something I strongly encourage couples to consider. We were able to get lots of photos of just the two of them before the ceremony started, so that by the time they were announced husband and wife we had most of the photos they really wanted and they were able to relax and enjoy the evening with their guests.

The Reception

The main focus of Jessica and Billy’s reception was to enjoy food, drinks, family, and friends. After a quick announcement of the bride and groom, they decided to forgo first dances and spent the majority of their time relaxing and having fun. At the end of the evening Jessica tossed her bouquet, shared a dance with Billy, and they signed their marriage license together before leaving for an evening out in Nashville to extend the festivities with their friends.

I loved photographing this relaxed, original Nashville brewery wedding filled with so much personality. Jessica and Billy – I hope you are enjoying your new life together as husband and wife and I wish you the best in they years to come!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Macy & Chris’s sweet southern wedding at Lofty Hitchins in Lawrenceburg, TN. They are the most laid-back, awesome couple and this was such a relaxed and enjoyable wedding (and the food was great!). Macy and her bridesmaids are all Texas Aggies and we took some fun photos of them together. Their families were so lovely, and they really knew how to dance!

Pick the Right Time of Day

The time of day your session is held is crucial to how your photos will turn out. The most flattering light is typically the hour or two before sunset and after sunrise. Seek open shade, especially if you have to have your session at a time when the sun is harsher. This bridal session was photographed in the summer, and it was quite warm even at sunset. A session at noon would definitely make for some sweaty photos!

Have a Plan if You Need to Change

Macy brought a sheet to change behind and later was able to use it to keep the hem of her wedding dress clean.  Macy brought a sheet to change behind and later was able to use it to keep the hem of her wedding dress clean.

The Park at Harlinsdale Farm has portable restrooms near the dog park, but that might make for an awkward changing situation. I have been told that they recently completed an indoor restroom, but I was not able to find it, so be prepared with whatever outfits you need and come dressed in your session attire if you can.

Find the Best Light

For Macy's bridal session we stayed in an area near some small buildings. The trees in that area provided great shade and beautiful filtered light for her session. Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this site.
It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's
very hard to get that "perfect balance" between user
friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you've done a great job with this.
Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Chrome.

    Outstanding Blog!

Allie and Michael are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet and I am happy to call them our friends. TWICE now Allie has dropped everything to come stay with Jake and Ben so that we could both go to the ER together with Drew for his broken arm (yep, its happened twice…he’s really unlucky). She is just that kind of person.

Then we began swim lessons with “Miss Awwie” and she patiently spent half an hour with my child who would scream for me The. Whole. Time. She’s a saint.

Michael is so nice and laid back and he was so attentive and ready to be wherever people needed him on the day of their wedding. I know they planned their big day for a long time and really put their heart into the details (they had the COOLEST circle ceremony!) and really enjoyed when it finally came, and I was so glad to be a part of it!

Torrie and Jim got married at the JSU alumni house in Jacksonville. They met right across the street during college 🙂 Everyone (including myself!) was SO SO SO happy that the rain that had been predicted all week never showed up. Congratulations you two and enjoy your honeymoon!
